SAFETY AT WORK - Emergency showerThe installation of the emergency shower in the chemical, petroleum, agricultural, iron and steel, pharmaceutical, construction, etc. sectors is particularly recommended.
Designed for a long life, scrupulously following the Italian and international regulations in force with particular attention to functionality and the choice of materials.
To guarantee workers the best safety conditions within the work area, the rules require that there be installed equipment permanently connected to the water mains which allow rapid washing of the body and eyes, the supply must be maintained for a minimum of 15 minutes leaving your hands free.
The standards expressly state that when workers are handling dangerous chemical substances, the emergency appliances must be placed in the immediate vicinity of the potential danger.
Shall also provide:
- that the shower head must have a delivery capacity of at least 100 litres/minute which correspond to class 3 required by the German standard.ANSI Z358.1 prescribes that a mm. 1500 from the ground the diameter of the water cone must be at least mm. 500
- that the eyewash fountains must have an aerated washing liquid flow rate of not less than 6 litres/minute
- that the power supply must ensure an operating pressure of 2 to 5 bar and the areas where the emergency appliances are installed must be suitably lit.
- that the water temperature in order to allow easy use must be between 20°C and 35°C. A suitable water heating system must be provided for this purpose.
The emergency shower and eyewash where unattended must be equipped with alarm systems that allow you to determine when the emergency units are activated.
It is very important to set up a periodic control plan to check the functioning of the showers and eye washes and to avoid the proliferation of bacteria in the water that has been standing still for a long time.
